Getting Here
When you are going to Koh Tao you have several choices of travelling. There are tourist offices all over Bangkok, especially Kao San Road is full of touristoffices that sell combined tickets to Koh Tao. By land you can go for both a train/boat or a bus/boat option.
Train
The State Railway of Thailand has daily departures to Chumphon and combined train and bus options can be purchased. The best train to take is the 2nd or 1st class sleeper trains which travel through the night. from Chumphon you need to be on any of the three boats listed below to Koh Tao. Prices depend on classes.
Bus
From Bangkok there are "VIP" tourist busses, leaving in the evening and arrives in Chumphon early in the morning, from where you take the boat to Koh Tao.The boat ride is approximately 1½ hour for Seatran and Lomprayah, 2-2½ hour for Songserm.
There are several daily departures between chumphon and Koh Tao, look to each website for information on timeschedules and prices.

Airplane
If you don´t want the long travels you can fly to the Island of Koh Samui and then taking a boat from there. Tickets can be bought on-line from Bangkok Airways www.bangkokair.com. There are daily departures. Look to the websites above on information on boats between Koh Samui and Koh Tao. Daily boats, the last ferry leaves at 12 noon. Tickets can be bought for the Lomprayah Catamaran or the Seatran Company, at Samui airport both boats takes roughly 2 hours. Tickets for both companies are 550 baht and they provide pick-up from the airport to the pier.
From Krabi, Phuket, Phi Phi
If coming from the south to Koh Tao, it is best for you to go to Surat Thani. From there you take the night boat and arrive at koh Tao early in the morning. You can also fly from Phuket to Koh Samui and take the boat from there.
